Blending your Grays

During the pandemic, we’ve seen many of our clients decide to completely change their color and finally grow out those grays they’ve been wanting to for years.  Don’t go it alone!  The best first step is always talk with your stylist and figure out a good game plan.  They can help a lot by showing you how much gray you have, and the best way forward for your situation.

The Process

Growing out 50-100% gray can be more difficult, depending on how dark you have been coloring your hair to cover your gray. But having your stylist begin to lighten your previously colored hair with highlights, will create a more natural grow out. With every appointment, you will see the previously colored areas inch closer to your new smoothly blended gray color!  This process can take a little time but it is sure to bring the most natural results.

Using Demi-Permanent Color to Help the Transition

Using a demi-permanent color can also give a natural transition to your graying hair.  This process tends to take a little bit longer.  It does a good job blending your grays, but Demi permanent hair color will fade faster and give a more translucent appearance.

Work with Your Stylist to Accomplish the Perfect Blend of Gray

Much like growing out a short style, letting your grays fill in can be difficult, timely and awkward.  But putting your trust in your stylist and allowing them to give you the direction you need to change your look is key!  Know what to ask for and get ready to unleash your natural beauty and confidence!

Now Taking “Tentative” Bookings

As we get closer to a tentative reopening date, the &BEAUTY team has been taking this time to plan and prepare our salons for a safe return.  Upon reopening, we will be limiting the capacity as well as hours of operation so that our staff will have time to thoroughly clean between each client.  Gloves and masks will be a requirement for all of our stylists and we ask our clients wear protective face coverings as well.

We are hopeful that New York State’s projected date of May 15th will hold and we will continue to communicate with local government for any updates, suggestions or changes.  In the meantime, you can finally book your appointments with us again!

If the re-open date does get pushed back again, we will work with our clients to reschedule your appointments. We are anticipating that a lot of people will be trying to book their appointments all at once when an official date is announced, so this is our way of trying to get ahead of it.

SPRING &BEAUTY

Spring is finally right around the corner. No, really, just 3 short weeks! So climb out of your cave and let us help you with all your hair seasonal disorders. From finding a new look that fits, to reviving and restoring a Winter’s worth of lifeless locks, we’ve got you.

SEASONAL LOOKS

Hair feeling a little too 2019? Here’s a quick guide through some of the big 2020 Spring and Summer looks we’re getting ready for! Expect to see a whole new set of trends this Spring, along with some recognizable looks still going strong a year later.

BRAIDED TENDRILS

Try a blast from your 90s past: Face-shaping Braided Tendrils. The retro 90s gave us back our tendrils and we’re making it work! So pull it all up- your braids, natural hair, twists, all of it. Put it all into a bun, leaving a couple of two-inch strips near the front of your part. Braid each of the strips down to the tip and hold it with an elastic or leave it loose. If you’re not big on buns, leave it down and apply a few sprays of LMC’s Base Volume for some lift and shine as Braided Tendrils work both ways. They are just as on-trend when hiding amongst those beach waves!

THE TWISTED HALF-KNOT

And how about a good half-up top-knot? Yes, we know, feels like 2019 all over again. But no there’s a twist, an actual twist. Twisted Half-Knots stormed the runways at Fashion Week with textured, fluffed-up hair emitting from a whole lot of loosely fitting buns. Make it your look by separating and sectioning from temple to temple. If you like a larger bun, work closer to the ears. Once you have your section, split it in half, down the center. Roll each section inward but avoid creating a tight roll. Roll loosely from hairline to crown. Once you’ve reached crown, secure with pins and twist the ends of the sections into a top-bun and pin it in place as well.

BOUNCE THAT PONY

Get away from the retro 90s feel for a moment and take it back to the 50s for a solid classic. We always love a good mid pony so we’re welcoming back this trend and giving it an extra boost. Plus, nothing says “Spring has sprung” like a good Bouncy Ponytail! So pull it back tight and clean, secure with an elastic and make that pony BOUNCE with a few soft curls at the tips. Just wrap a few sections of ends (separately/one at a time) around a curling iron. Once you have a few separate sections curled at the ends, brush them out while the curl is warm to create softness.

COLOR FUN

Lastly, we are absolutely loving the bright fun colors making a big return this season! So many denim blues, fresh springy greens and vibrant pink hues making runways AND sidewalks and we’re here for it.
